World Travelers Community Podcast

17.10.2022 • 34 Min.

This episode dives into the Volunteer Perspective: "How can something be outside the law but morally right?" Organisations on the ground get regularly criminalised in their attempted relief work. In this episode, we talk about the context of humanitarian aid through the lenses of a volunteer coming from a more privileged situation and the circumstances under which volunteers and People on the Move happen to meet. On a more positive note, listen to a story of friendship, joint assistance, and empathy. The World Travelers Community in Sarajevo in Bosnia and Herzegovina supports people on the move, refugees, and asylum seekers in their long-term integration process with different services and the possibility of employment opportunities. Components of this program are legal support, language courses in Bosnian and English, psychological support, assistance in finding and affording accommodation in shared houses, and job search assistance. The podcast is one way to support this transformative project and advocate the silenced stories of our participants. Please keep in mind that we are a completely non-commercial and social podcast project. Based solely on the work of volunteers, therefore our quality of production cannot always compete with those who can pay salaries to professional producers.
